Replacement Seats
I'm considering replacing my Puma seats as I have a bad back and find them a bit uncomfortable after some time in the saddle. There's nothing wrong with the seats I have which are standard utility seats so there's no point renewing foams etc. I cant justify spending £1500 plus on Exmoor Trim seats and was looking at these on Ebay but having spoken to them they say they wont fit in a county or any defender that has the B pillar trim. I suspect they are being cautious and that while it may be a tight fit I dont have the seat far enough forward where the seat shoulder is level with the B pillar. My question is has anyone fitted this kind of seat and did they fit in ok? Link below as an example

Sorry, I have no experience.

The post has dimensions of the seat. How much wider is this seat than a standard Defender XL seat? Curious as I had never considered Puma seats narrow? Maybe they are?

I can see your issue, that's a lot of money if it doesn't fit when you unbox them.

My seats, well the drivers seat is splitting on the leather of the seat base and the foam has collapsed making them quite uncomfortable. I was going to go down the Exmoor trim route, but they are quite an investment.

Two comments, the seat bases obviously won't come off for access to fuses and battery (not an everyday problem but a pain if you do need to get access) and if the Puma seats are uncomfortable, these might not be any more comfortable. It's a bit of a chance?

But the price is good Very Happy I hope someone can get you an answer.

I agree with everything you say but my thinking was if someone has fitted them I can go and try sitting in them at a supplier to be sure. I did have a go at the classic car show to be fair and they seemed ok but Id want to check before buying. The other option is to wait for something secondhand but its a bit hit and miss.

I would suggest visiting a shop that stocks lots of different brands to see which you find comfortable and fit the Defender. I’m not sure if it would be too far for you but I found GSM https://www.sportseats4u.co.uk/product-cat...lly-seats/ very helpful. I’ve not used them for my Defender but they kitted out a couple of race/track cars for me. Some of the Sparco, Cobra, OMP and Corbeau seats are very decent for the money and a lot more comfy and better quality than Land Rover efforts. Personally I would avoid non branded eBay stuff as there could be a safety issue. WARNING.

I bought Corbeau as I couldn't afford Recaro. I'm pretty sure it was from here: https://www.larkspeed.com/contact-us/
Not far from you and had a load of seats you could try out.

a friend has a set in his 90

the seats rub on the b pillar and squeak when your driving.

hard foam and not that comfortable.

you need to go try some seats before you buy.

cobra daytonas fit and are comfy but are a large seat.
or maybe a set of scheelmans

Possibly not an option if Exmoor trim were too expensive.

Unless they have a bargain basement seat offering, when I looked at those they were eye wateringly expensive - but very very nice Thumbs Up

Definitely worth the drive, I went up from the SW and I’m glad I made the effort. After hours of internet research I arrived with a couple of options in mind but after trying out a load came away having spent a third less on much better fitting seats. Unless you try them out side by side and actually get your hands on them it’s a bit of a lottery. Also the rails/mounts can make a big difference and it’s worth taking the time to get that right as well. WARNING.

That’s true, and remembering battery accessibility as well is another thing, plus heated or not options. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I have a bad back as well, and couldn't drive for a long time in my 110. I did a lot of research, and made the decision to buy a pair of Scheelmann seats. I know they are eye watering expensive, but they just ticked all the boxes for me. I did a lot of saving and finally got them a few months ago. They are great, and I can now drive for hours without back pain.
