Car Key on iPhone, is it possible on Defender?
Anyone using car keynote? If so, is it safe? Safer than keyless access?

The Landrover "InControl" App used to allow you to unlock the vehicle remotely from your phone - but not start the car.

With recent security enhancements, this is no longer possible - the physical keys are coded to the vehicle.

The remote option is still visible in the App, but it doesn't work.

There is a note in the app suggesting this might be temporary, but I am thinking it'll be years rather than months before a secure remote solution is re-instated.

How strange, to this day I can still lock/unlock doors remotely from Incontrol, start the climate control, and therefore the engine too, and give acoustic signals and lights, always from “Incontrol”without any problem….I was referring more to the iPhone's own application. Defender 110 SE I6 D250 23MY

I can lock unlock my doors and start the engine on my Incontrol app. My car was brand new on Friday.

Regional / country by country issue here.

There was a somewhat recent (2024) security update that disabled certain Land Rover app functions in some countries.

Here in the USA, where I am, the app still works on our L663's (all functions: unlock/lock/remote start/beep horn/etc).

I guess it makes sense that this is region specific - there's a huge business in shipping stolen vehicles to Russia and Africa here in Europe (Certainly UK). I guess it's not as economical to steal and ship them from the US..

Works fine here in the UK, I used the app to start and defrost my car this morning.

Never used the option. Just used it now! Outside -5 Celsius and the Defender is frozen.
Worked at the touch of the button!

All functions working for me here in Japan. Remote start and turning climate on certainly useful as it's getting frosty in the morning. 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof

Car can be unlocked via the Landrover Remote app (installed on my iphone). It does work, but it is a bit slow and sometimes dimwitted. It does also suffer from unsufficient cell phone reception, hence we never use it for that purpose. But lights and horn function of the Landrover remote app can be quite handy.

cheers

I read the OP as asking about using the phone as a key, replacing the fob, rather than simply the ability to unlock it, beep the horn, or start it for climate. Like referred to in this article:
