Dead N/S dipped beam headlight. 1991/200
Truck was restored "new" in 2016. Wiring looks like new.

All electrics fine. Dipped headlight N/S is dead.

1. Replaced bulb. Bulb which was removed appeared to be perfect.
2. Checked fuses with test meter. All fine.
3. Took light out again. Tested with meter. Dead. Checked pins/plug. Fine
4. Checked wiring inside wing. No visible damage.

HELP!!!!!!

Have you physically removed the fuses? Or tested you are getting same reading both sides of the fuse.

Should be fuse 12. 7.5amp.

Blue with pink trace. Wire colour

Pulled all 4 of them. All fine, all seated fine, no dodgy looking wires.

It is only the left and main beam works so it's not an earth problem. the truck had a new loom in 2016 and it's all like new.

I am thinking it has to be either a switch or relay. But which one where!

I presume the stalk controls are both dipped/ both main. If I'm right then it has to be where it splits between the both sides/individual sides. Relay?

Time to take the haynes manual for a dump.

Wiring loom where it passes behind the heater, that is where mine chaffed the insulation, plastic had gone brittle.

my old TDi had this trouble, and i would lose the dash lights at the same time too. For some reason it stopped doing it, when i changed the head light bulbs, when i changed the lights to crystals. I suspected that the switch it self had something to do with it, with them not been relayed. i never got the chance to find the issue out. But for the record, i swopped the bulbs to Philp's bulbs which stopped the problem. So it might be worth swopping the bulbs for good quality units, just to see if that helps, then buy the boomslang loom with a new switch. Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
