Companies that enter administration and miraculously reappear twenty minutes later in a pre-pack agreement with the same directors and same management. It boils my wee wee. How this kind of thing is allowed to carry on, I really don't know. All we get told are 'they saved 60 jobs. Apart from the other 300 that went down the road when they close any branches that they don't cherry pick.
There are turnaround companies that do make dead ducks into stunning swans, but the majority are just looking to pick over the remnants and make a quick quid. Little Chef, Debenhams, BHS, Thames Water anyone? At least the courts are after the two guys who screwed over the BHS staff. I blame the suppliers. If someone had shafted me. left me in debt, and then started up again under a slightly different company name, I would tell them to clear off. I saw it over and over again in construction where Directors of bankrupt organisations started up again and the same suppliers gave them credit agreements, scared that another supplier might get an advantage over them. There were serial offenders, or maybe they were very unlucky. |

I'm impressed that it appears that it didn't even break the windscreen (based on the additional photos on bookface).

And clearly shows how far the fuel tank protrudes below the chassis.

Recaro seats......Thought their demise was one of the reason the Grenadier went off sale for awhile.
Surprised they did not go the whole hog and get rid of the transfer box and the four wheel drive. Would probably suit the market they are aiming for...style over substance. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

They blamed supply issues but it’s obvious it’s down to poor sales. On the upside, if you want one there are big discounts to be had on both new and used. WARNING.

You would wonder if sales are poor enough to cause a hiatus in production, how does that pose for part supply going forward to the person who does buy one. Building up a supply base for a small number of vehicles is expensive. If Jim's accountants tell him to cut his loses and ditch this passion project, that would leave current owners in a bad position should they need parts down the line.
It seems to be a fine vehicle and more to my taste than other current offerings. Funnily enough another manufacturer, Kia, announced the launch of a body on chassis pick up vehicle. This will not be as expensive as Grenadier and no doubt aimed at a different customer base. The separate chassis once a Land Rover stable and a big selling point of theirs before they abandoned it, seems to be making a come back with other manufacturers. Albeit these are being marketed as "working" vehicles. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

yeah spuds, it would be like the City Rover, that rover assembled from Tata. Its now come about that there hardly is any spare parts for those cars at all, on the shelves at all. Some have just been scrapped for a sake of a damper. So if this project goes west, the same thing will happen with these and the market value will drop to all.
where i work though, their are expected to start production again in January. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

I think its been down to the seats mainly, where i work we make some of the interior trims for these, and an external spare wheel cover. But again the build orders could are finished with in the week, so the demand isn't strong at all. i can see them trying to make money on the ones that are still there, just so there is something coming in for the operators that are mothballed. In a job such as yours, you can foresee trends long before they become evident to the general public.
I was talking to someone who works for a company that tests new cars for manufacturers. He told me that the amount of cheap parts in expensive cars is frightening. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |
