nissan to shed 9000 jobs

I recon this is the start of many things to come across the automotive board, and not just nissan, I am really thinking this is because of the EV and hybrid production cost. They are not making enough return on it at all. Sunderland battery plant, that was due to open, has been put back again for another year. My former TL has just jumped ship to where i work, due to the battery plant been down on orders.
I recon there is going to be a massive U turn with EV and Hybrid, and i think Diesel cars will make a comeback, Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

It's been going round the industry for a few weeks already.
VW closing 3 plants in the German heartland. BMW and Mercedes are reported to be looking very vulnerable at the moment.
Stellantis / Jeep shedding 1100 jobs at the Wrangler and Gladiator assembly plant in Ohio. 2500 Ram truck layoffs already announced and 1000 at GM in the the US.
Knock on effects in the supply industry. Recaro have already gone bust.

Not a good time just now. I can't help but feel that worldwide government EV targets and the potential penalties for making too many ICEs has brought all this on, or made a slight downturn much worse than it would have been.

There's also a feeling that cars are getting too technologically complicated which is putting buyers new off and affecting second hand values. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.
