I have a 23MY V8 defender 110.

I’ve had several JLR products and I’d say it’s common when an owner brakes too hard.

I know it’s not always possible to brake gently, but basically JLR discs plus heavy suvs don’t mix when not nursed.

All,the vehicles I’ve had from new, had no issues. Those approved used were clearly owned by bad drivers who just think they can stamp on the brakes.

Latest V8 defender had same issue. JLR warrnaty won’t cover beyond 12 months so….

Brake gently, anticipate traffic and have no issues.

My 2012 110 has warped front discs right now. No pulling to one side or poor braking performance but it’s like feeling a buckled wheel on your bicycle with a slight push back on the pedal. Saving up for LOF kit.

I've had many D3/4 and have never had an issue with warped brakes. My first D3 was bought new in 2005 and I did 230,000 miles in it often towing or fully loaded and just replaced brakes when worn. Same for my other D3/4s and now my Defender, which has done 36,000 miles since Oct 22 towing, fast touring and load lugging.

I drive and use my cars hard. No issues at all. Thumbs Up Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

....and glaze the pads, and never get them up to temperature. Ok, so i don't mean brake super late in traffice etc. But dont be afraid to step on the pedal firmly either, you'll be impressed what they can do.

Brakes are a wear item, including rotors and pads. They are intended to be used. A few hard braking efforts gets them to where they need to be. My D4 had great brakes, even better once I put RDA rotors and akebono ceramic pads on them. Was planning for braided lines,but then L663 showed up...

No such thing as warped from new, if they're faulty from the start, it's usually air in the system (they are reverse filled at factory by a machine, this can get air in the system if the ABS pump is not cycled fully to get the air out). Rotors are precision ground and go through multiple qa checks before making it onto the axle.

Warping occurs due to uneven heating of the rotor surface.

Typically the ways it happens is when you perform a hard braking and either drive through a puddle, or you hard brake and stay at a stop.

When the latter happens, you've heated up the rotor, and then when the pads are still pressed against the rotor, it traps heat in that area, while the rest of exposed rotor cools much faster.

If you hard brake and have to come to a stop - such as at a stoplight, it helps to go ahead and put it in P and pull your foot off the brake. 2022 Defender 110 SE P400 Tasman Blue Expedition and Cold weather package

The front discs warped on my 2022 90 so l bought a spare set from someone who upgraded their brakes. But after a while the discs seem to have gone okay.

l didn't even know this could happen.

It’s almost certainly not the disc warping - far more likely to be deposition of pad material on the surface. Caused by heavy braking followed by holding the brakes on while hot. The resulting uneven surface then causes the pulsing vibration felt when applying the brakes.

The fix is the same regardless.

Classic Old Krap by Jaguar/Land Rover.
All my Jaguar Xf 20d, Xf30d, I pace, all garaged had disks warped and rusted after 6 months of use!
Still didn’t get to 6 months with my Defender…
