I had a leak on my inlet manifold gasket which was doing the same thing. Wouldn’t rev above 2500rpm. Switched off and ran fine for a bit then same again. Worth a look.

^^^^

Did this throw a fault code of dash warning light ?

Thanks - turbo and actuator were replaced early doors however i have positive news. Lots been done to the vehicle as already noted including some recent replacement wiring however nothing sorted the intermittent loss of power with no MIL or codes . As pretty well everything on the car was either tested or replaced the techs were left with one final area to look at - the ECU . This was replaced on Tuesday and since then no loss of power - in fact increase in boost , much better MPG and everything looking positive . Further road tests next week but fingers crossed will be back home on Thursday . It’s been a long journey but I now have a better understanding of the car thanks to everyone’s input .

So my Defender is now back - done about 80 miles in it and so far so good - pulls much stronger and mpg is amazing ( compared to before ) . New ECU seems to have done the trick . Now to start the little jobs like why the interior lights don’t come on with door open and rear centre brake light non op . Little jobs I don’t mind working on and expected when I bought it . Does anyone know how to replace the clock bulb - is it the whole centre fascia out or does the clock come out separately to get to the bulb - assuming of course it does light up ?

Centre fascia out to get at back of clock. Easy job but odd bulb!
