I’ve been meaning to investigate why my heated seat doesn’t seem to be working. Excellent post, thank you, i will take a look at that thermostat.

I need to take a look at this, this weekend, hoping this is also my issue - it is possible to do with seat in-situ? I am guessing not and it's only 4 bolts - but just asking.......

Click image to enlarge what can I say? This forum comes up trumps again. Thanks so much all, especially @glpinxit and @Edpike for the original post. All went ok and putting the seat cover back together was the most challenging bit! I think the heat pads are also knackered as there is not much spread of heat - but they are both now working again on the drivers side having been well and truly dead - yellow wire the culprit. I did it in-situ, a bit easier once I remembered to remove the headrest to let the seat fold fully forwards initially and for putting the cover back together - it clipped reasonably easily back again with my fingers once I mega-stretched the lower part and kept a nice lot of slack on it. Mix of gorilla tape to hold it when putting the foam back together and copydex (I do have a can of spraytak glue but I am too tight to break the seal for this small job as they always get clogged up after first use, so it will probably now rust having never been used!) . This also gave me a chance to try out my 8 quid silver line AA battery powered soldering iron (I do have a mains one but that involves a loooong extension cable). I was nicely surprised - great little bit of kit! A picture of the in situ repair in progress in case it helps anyone. |

Has anyone bypassed the thermostat?
I would much rather the seat stay on rather cutting in and out. Any fire risk? |

You probably answered your own question, ‘Fire risk’. If it was me, I definitely wouldn’t 👍

They always seem to have some kind of thermostat or timer on them (Landrover after market ones also do and other more modern cars I have all seem to switch in and out) - so I presume there is good reason for that, so probably not a good idea to bypass it.

I was wondering this also. My 2015 110 UXS with Premium seats has only lukewarm heat from the seats. I had a TD5 previous to this (changed in May) which had 2012 Puma seats in the front, one with original heat pads and one with Exmoor trim replacements and they got so hot you had to turn them off after a while. My Puma pails in comparison, am tempted to either bypass or replace the thermostat Previous LR 2004 TD5 90 XS Station Wagon 2003 TD5 90 G4 LE 1990 Ninety 6.2 V8 Station Wagon |
