The car insurance market in the UK is screwed up from all sides, the insurance companies and their opaque system with agents and underwriters AND the many claims scams going on by customers, repair companies, hire car companies etc.
Already quite a while ago I was faced with a claim against me (UK) and had a claim adjuster come to the house. Ex cop, cup of tea and the scam stories came out, shady characters making claims involving cousins etc. then in the end my insurance settled for 15k because of OP claiming to have had a fright (damage was limited to knocked off mirror). No doubt their lawyer claims company benefitted most. No wonder premiums are rising |

We are also paying for those useless EV's that have to be written off then then stored in a safe manner.
Not to mention that they don't want us driving. This must explain why Defenders on the Land Rover Approved web site are dropping in value. |

Anyone got a recommendation for Defender Commercial insurance? Currently with LV and waiting for a callback from Adrian Flux.
Tried "Compare the Market" and most were £900+. One came in at £650 but it's a company l've never heard of, Zego, who seem to insure a lot of private hire vehicles. Their reviews are a mixture. UPDATE Adrian Flux £1500 Last edited by lightning on 25th Oct 2024 2:18pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Always found comparison sites pointless for Defenders.
I feel ive been fairly lucky. Business 20k p.a, heavily modified, lowest 600, highest 1600 (3 accidents in a year, before the big price rises). Currently £800 with a cat 2 immo. Even in the big rise era it was £830. 33 now, driving them since was 21. Currently 3 previous claims. Found Flux terrible. Awful customer service, awful people. lightning - NFU are worth a try. I stayed with them (just last month) - they were cheaper than Aviva (lots!) and LV. Plus if you pay monthly they don't charge interest unlike pretty much everyone else. I didn't bother with comparison sites. Good luck Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S

Funny, I found NFU friendly, the most expensive and very intrusive on the questions.
Best I've found is Admiral. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy. |

Land Rover insurance quoted £700
Didn't expect that. Will most likely go with that, just need to find out if they need an active tracker subscription because mine lapsed last year. |

There was a recent security update to prevent the code grabbing theft where someone in a vehicle nearby "grabs" the signal when you lock your vehicle. Then once you've left they just unlock it and drive off in it.
You had to take the vehicle in and it was done while you wait. lf yours needed the update you'll have been contacted by Land Rover. |
