Would this be why I saw the three Services rally prepared 90’s heading down Birdlip Hill earlier today?

its always a good event and the amount of sites and tracks you get to drive is epic.
this year the weather was kind apart from the teatime meal, but the grub made up for it. apple crumble and custard was proper good. nice to see the 110 up close. a few of my shots from the marshalling side Click image to enlarge of things. Thank you to you and your fellow marshals for your hard work.
The section after the dinner stop was pretty full on in the dark and the rain. My daughter as navigator and I managed 18th out of 70 odd starters which we were quite proud of as we had little idea of what to expect. My son and I got overall winner on Autumn Leaves last year which we are hoping to do again this year. 2011 130 Utility Body 2005 110 Van |

yep worm law forest in the dark is fun. not too many recoveries but plenty of lost folk in there.
hot food in the rain is always welcome and the Army catering team do well for us every time, the rain almost washed the food off the plate walking to the tent. we didn't do too many miles this year circa 650 chasing about the stages. as we say to anyone reading this come along its great on and off road driving for very little money. ideal for most proper 4x4 |

Gutted to of had to miss it this year, but a new born at home meant it wasn't feasible this year. But will be back for 2025 for sure, it is one of the best UK events

How did you get on this year after your diplomatic duties? We only had 3 crews through our second control - don't think you were one of them? My friend in the Mitsi didn't get home until after 4am after a particularly bad recovery. Needed another vehicle to act as a ground anchor. 90 V8 CSW - 1988 |

On Autumn leaves? First novice crew.
I’m guessing your second TC was the one that was in the road book amendments that wasn’t at the grid reference in the amendment, we were approaching it from the wrong direction (yes, I know……..) so couldn’t actually find it. Seems you could only find it if you were approaching from the right direction on the exact route. To be totally honest we were completely lost around that point. After we got back to HQ, we were asked to go and do a recovery, my son grabbed one of his crafties in GS and I took my truck and we found two young chaps from the signals in an FFR Wolf up a steep track with the truck laying against the garden wall of a house, unable to go forwards or backwards at all. Half an hour with the Hi-Lift (I knew I dragged that thing around for a reason) had it recovered. Fair bit of swearing however. Click image to enlarge 2011 130 Utility Body 2005 110 Van |

Well done - I think it was a very different event to last year.
We're hoping to be out on the Saxon - maybe competing and looking at the possibility of MudMasters, but that may conflict with other motorsport commitments. 90 V8 CSW - 1988 |
