I had this with my old Lada Niva. All four corners locked up while driving along. Turned out, the pushrod from the pedal to the master cylinder needed the free play adjusting.

laugh is we have not had a look yet they did remove the brake pipes, well cut them off, when they did the rebuild.

AS noted above the most common cause of the brakes not releasing is the push-rod from the pedal to the MC being adjusted so that it is too long, this prevents fluid from being able to return to the reservoir.
IN the case of a Defender (with dual circuit brakes) it is possible for only one circuit to lock on, and I suspect this is what is happening to yours. When, many years ago, I collected a SI I had just bought I had this problem and ended up immobile on the A4 in Beaconsfield in a thoroughly nasty spot. I had to let fluid out of the bleed nipple to release the brakes, drive to a place of safety and then adjust the push-rod. |

What is in that thread is a G Valve. As the name implies, its a mechanical valve that senses G force when the Landrover is involved in a collision and shuts off the hydraulic line. It is not a pressure reducer. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
