Insurance Quotes
Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has tips and tricks on how to lower insurance premiums for any kind of defender or series vehicles in the uk. I am 17 and I already am a named drive on a 2.2. puma 2015 but was looking to purchase a td5 90 maybe I still am not sure. The lowest quote I have been given is around 6 grand!!! Just wondering also what the cheapest kind of defender or series is cheapest to insure.

Thanks,

V12 LFR

You could try NFU.

Unfortunately, most insurers only want to make money for old rope, it’s what they do.
The name of the game, only reason they are in it.
So stick with ones with good underwriters and that are common and well known. NEVER SURRENDER! ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Classic insurance on an older one and limited mileage would probably help a little. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

NFU wouldn’t provide a quote for me due to my age at 17. Any other insurers?

Thanks.

Hi

I've just upgraded my 23 year old daughter from a 2013 Ford Fiesta 1.0 Eco boost to a 2016 Mercedes GLA 2.1 and managed to get her insurance costs down to £90 more than she was paying for her Fiesta.

*Add 1 or 2 experienced additional driver to your quote even if they will never drive your Landy.
*Keep your expected annual mileage realistic. If you will only driving at weekends then no need to quote for 10,000 miles. The more mileage you do equals an increase in risk of an accident or incident.
*If you can park in a garage overnight or a driveway your quote will be cheaper than parking on the street.
*Experiment with occupation description.
*Keep vehicle modifications to a minimum.
*As you are young look at policies with black box monitors fitted.
*Consider installing additional security on your car but make sure that it is an approved type that is recognised by insurance companies.
*Some insurance companies give a discount if you fit a dashcam.
*Consider doing an advanced driving course. Some companies will give you a discount other not.
*Quotes will be different for a CSW compared to a Hardtop. A CSW is classed as a car and a hardtop classed as a van. There can be a big difference in cost between car and van insurance. Try quoting on both.

I hope that the above helps?

Jim
