I too have a genuine LR ladder. when locked or not, I can prise two fingers behind the lock and ease the bowden cable, whilst pulling the centre ladder step towards me and the lock releases. I demonstrated this to the LR Dealer, to which he replied "it shouldn't do that" 3. answer Have you a photo of the second fob ? |

Well I can pull the latch and see a spring behind it and hear the spring move. The ladder sort of comes away a bit at the top right (and i have to click it back into place) but a can't get a single finger let alone two behind the lock.

That fob certainly looks like a fuel burning heater fob, this was an option when specifying the car new. It probably wont work until the temperatures get a little colder
