As the 10P map is for the NNN00120, besides running would it generate any errors on a NNN500020 or NNN500250 ECU?

There are specific/distinctive maps to run a 10p/EU2 Defender on either a NNN000120 or NNN500020 ECU.

Strictly speaking all NNN type ECUs can manage a manual Defender (whether 10p or 15p engined), though the auto type ECUs (ending in 130) as well as the non-cooled EGR ECD3 type ECUs (ending in 250) will give various issues, some fixable some not, some rather innocuous such as ghost faults stored in memory, others quite annoying like inverting coolant temperature instrument readings or giving false fuel tank level. Reason behind is the EU2 mapsets available for these ECUs are intended for the Discovery 2.

Long story short you want a NNN000120 or a NNN500020 as a second/back-up ECU.

Can supply virgin maps if required (safer to flash with than a mapset saved to the Nanocom from your existing ECU as the verification routine request will be on). Ditto, if the ECU has been remapped and the mapset encoded then it cannot be accessed with the Nanocom (or equivalent). 24 yrs of Td5 ownership

United States 1999 Defender 90 Td5 PU Chawton White
Greetings!
I have a '99 D90 td5. After troubleshooting a "kangarooing" issue I discovered the MSB ECU was from a disco. I sourced an NNN5000250 ECU Said to have been removed from a D90 manual and Nanocom evolution for TD5's.

Received the new ECU first and decided to try it. Truck started with immediate "check engine" amber light and would only idle...no response from accelerator pedal.

After receiving the Nanocom and creating map sttlp009-sthle022 file using the map wizard. I flashed the map and unfortunately have the same results as without the map only now I have the fault codes:

NANOCOM - TD5ENG.APP - TD5 ENGINE fault file

I have read that map sttlp009-sthle022 is correct for a 10p but it is unclear on the map wizard. I am assuming I have the wrong map or reflash to see.

Any suggestions?

First you have to set the gas pedal - you have probably two way, and in ECU is three way. Than clean faults and it should response and not only idle. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "BlufĂnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

There is no specific mapset for running a Defender on a NNN500250 ECU, as it was only fitted to 15p Discos. Much less so a 10p Defender.

The sttlp009-sthle022 mapset is for the NNN00120 ECU. You'd be better off trying with a sttlp010-sthle022 mapset, originally intended for the NNN500020 ECU, which in terms of hardware is a much closer relative to the NNN500250.

Then confirm/change the accelerator setting to 2-way (Nanocom --> Td5 Engine --> Settings --> Injectors - Throttle --> 2nd page/tab 24 yrs of Td5 ownership

I flashed the sttlp010-sthle022 map and changed throttle to two way as suggested and it worked like a charm. Thank you! I should be getting the corrected version to account for 10p engine tomorrow but she runs so much better than with the old disco ECU
