Wiper motor switch? Does the motor make a noise, or not? 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

Could the problem be the park switch?
The wipers are (and have been since I bought it) at 11 o clock… |

I don’t know about the puma, but I’d assume that the wiper systems were broadly the same over the years. I’ve had a couple of park switches fail, I now keep a spare.

I am just trying to use a process of elimination before I attempt the park switch, the entire dash has to come out on a Puma

It doesn’t - just the top half has to be loose to access it all. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

Yes, understood. Before I get on with this over the weekend, please can I ask with the wipers at 11 o clock is this a typical sign of a faulty park switch.
Could it be a relay … |

Have you had a little search of wiper motors ...it seems to come up fairly regularly and I found the links in this thread useful..bw links to an old post where he covers the main points of operation ..

Not on a puma, but when my park switch failed the first time the wipers just wouldn’t stop or park. The second time they’d only work on fast speed and wouldn’t stop until they felt like it!

I expect the wheel boxes are jammed up and worn out, stopping the motor.
That will happen and you can have a working park switch, working motor, and fuse in-tact it’s just jammed up and you’ll need new wheel boxes and rack, it’s not that expensive if you DIY but is time consuming. I personally did take the entire dash out, it’s easier to get at then but the choice is yours. Be sure the motor stays or is replace exactly where it should be too, the motors or at least mine was fine, I just replaced everything else and ran like new. It’s a good opportunity to fit anew park switch whilst there anwyay. P.S if you go into my ‘Gallery’ on my profile then > thread uploads. You should see some photos that might be helpful, gives you an idea as to what’s behind there. The way in which you do the job is up to you. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Update: The wheel boxes are jammed so dash out and removed. Motor making a horrible whining sound.
Whole lot will be replaced which leads me onto which parts do I use - Britpart/Allmakes, OEM or original? Anybody have any ideas please. |

Gen or OEM.
Avoid Britpart or you’ll find yourself doing the job again next year. If the motor is okay it’ll work basically silently quietly at least, without load almost. If it’s noisy then it probably isn’t in good stead. When the wipers are packing up it works the motor hard, I was lucky with mine the motor was fine. The rest all had to go, only parts I kept were the outer tubes, motor, and motor bracket. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |
