Driver and front passenger door rattle
Morning all, my 1 month old Defender has developed intermittent rattles on the driver and passenger front door (seems to emanate from the top of the door). Not the biggest issue, but still really annoying. I've applied some Gummi-pflege to the rubber seals but that hasn't sorted it.

Has anyone else had this and was it a DIY solution or was a visit to the dealership needed (and did that fix it?)?

Try this solution. I had a similar sound and this solved it.

Take the overhead grab handles off. When pulling them out you will notice that they have tabs on them to allow them to be installed with the headliner at the factory. Those little tabs are the cause of rattles. They click against the headlining and make noise.

You have two options. One is to just wrap the tabs in duct tape and reinstall the handles. The other is to cut the tabs off and reinstall the handles. They don't do anything other than allow the handles to be installed with the headlining at the factory.

Took me a couple months of chasing phantom noises before I honed in on this as the problem. Instant relief once I fixed it.

hi thanks for the advice,
I'm very interested too, when you talk about handles do you mean external door handles?

Thanks

Marco

@mmbanf - Not the door handles, but the grab handles in the headliner.

That noise can sound like it's coming from anywhere about shoulder height and up.

I had this problem (now past tense). If there are any lingering questions - Simon (PowerfulUK) removes them in a swap kit, and you can easily see the offending tabs in question.
