Decat and Mot?
As I need to take of my turbo in order to fix the leak between the manifold and turbo, I think it would be the right time to fit a decat pipe - but how about pollution levels? in Denmark the car is checked every second year, by measuring the exhaust while flooring the pedal 3 times in neutral Shocked it really hurts... Is there any measurable increase in pollution without cat?

Are they checking for particles/soot, or emission gases?

If soot as in the UK, removing the cat helps, but if checking gases you may have to keep it, or put it back on for the test.

I don't think it would make any difference at all. Cats only work at sustained vehicle speed / revs anyway. A quick blast of the throttle and the cat does nothing at all.

Ok thanks a lot - I guess I will give it a go - maybe along with a mid pipe replacement. Twisted Evil

De cat and mid pipe
I have replaced the down pipe witha de cat version and the centre box with a replacment box so the only silencer is the rear one now, It has passed the last 2 MOT's with this set up without a word from the examiner about this change interestingly the emmisions now are down by a third compared to befor these changes and has got a "fast pass" both times.

Is there a noticeable effect - apart from the sound? And K9F you are risking getting a PM from me the next time I canīt find what I am looking for Wink

CRJ,

'PMs' always wecome! Only too glad to be of assistance. I know how frustrating it can be searching for something, putting in a key word and being inundated with duplicated threads.

Mine also has no cat or centre box, has passed two MOT's with no comment.

BUT it will throw up engine warning light now and again (I just reset mine with a scanguage) - when I mentioned this at its last service the main dealer said warning its 'due to the improvement in gas flow and nothing to worry about'.

No, that is not at all normal. We have fitted countless downpipes and exhaust systems to Puma's, and not ever (to my knowledge) had an engine warning lamp illuminated.
