I bought my g4 110 as a structural write off due to being rolled in a quarry. Luckily the salvage dealer I bought it off had a good roof to go with it and the owners club had contacted him with some information to pass on.
The chassis and bulkhead were salvageable but the rear tub, doors and front wings were replaced. With 211k miles mostly in a quarry the mechanicals were in a poor state. The engine and gearbox (not its originals) were completely worn out so replaced with good used units I had in stock, I rebuilt the transfer box and the rear diff (the morning before setting off on holiday to France!) After a large amount of work it is now in running order and took us on holiday to Amiens France from Lancashire this year. There is still quite a bit to do and some of the G4 kit is not quite correct or still missing. Next job is sort out a paint miss match then I can apply the decals. If anyone else has any history I would be interested. |

This is what I had sent to me
First up the history, its got a load of event history. In 2003 the vehicle went to South Africa and was used as a team Support Vehicle for the Dutch and Japanese Teams in stage 2 of the Challenge, Basicly the 2 team members had a vehicle and there's only 1 set of kit in that vehicle so this was the support with the second set of kit in it but also the press for those country's. in 2005 the vehicle was used back here in the UK for the UK National Selections where 3 challengers were selected to go to international selections with all the other countries and 1 person from each country makes it to the challenge. in 2006 it went off to south America where it was used by the competitions team as a setup vehicle and often went ahead on stages to set the daily challenges or camps. Stages 3&4 were Brazil and Bolivia. As i said its got a ton of history and a great vehicle to own.note the non UK reg in the last one... LRG4C-30These 2 shots are from 2003 in south africa and theres likely to be a few more, these were just an instant check and grab for you This one is from eastnor LRE from the 2005 National Selections Click image to enlarge |
