Central locking fault
The key fob is not unlocking/ locking or even causing the hazards to flash

Nor is the central locking working from within the vehicle.

This came about after the battery being flat but to my knowledge it is possible to repeatedly press the lock/ unlock key and the fob should reassign itself? Does not appear to be working.

I have checked fuses and they’re still supplying voltage now the battery is replaced.

Any suggestions please. 4.0 V8 Defender 90

It is a brand new battery, yes. Quite frustrating... 4.0 V8 Defender 90

You can sync it to the AS10 by pressing it rapidly as you suggested.

If that’s not working, which seems to be the case are the battery clamps tight and the grounds the transmission tight?
It might show voltage still when you check it, but if there is high resistance any sort of load could cause significant voltage drop causing the issues you describe.

Is the battery showing a sensible voltage at rest so should be 12v minimum.

Might be some ideas there, my guess it’s the vehicle not the fob…

Might be worth checking for any water too, as we have had a lot of rain, and that may if you’ve been out in it be the issues eclectically underneath with the transmission.

Be sure that there is appropriate voltage on each fuse shoulder too and that the fuse isn’t loose, thiugh this isn’t that likely you never know. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Good suggestions, It wasn't long ago since the contacts for the earths were infact wire brushed fresh since the build but we know how quickly things can corrode again. I will have to check the voltages over the weekend while I drive the other car and report back. I am too leaning towards the AS10 or a voltage problem, as this issue was at first intermittent and so became a developing problem, potentially.

(When checking the fuse voltages is was sat at 12.5v and 14.2v while running, which I believe to be acceptable) 4.0 V8 Defender 90

Yeah, that is acceptable voltage ranges.

It has been known for water to get in or around the AS10 / its contacts plug etc.

You could add a temporary earth and see any difference if any, and there is also the rear loom grounds as well as the main one.

Don’t know if this will help, this is how you sync the key fob on a TD5.

With vehicle unlocked, take battery out of fob and then hold both buttons down for 10 seconds to drain residual power.
Battery back in then press lock four times and unlock once. That will sync the fob back to the ECU. 2015 Jaguar XE240 R Sport - goes like ....... !!

Turns out the immobilization fuse has 12v going to it. i removed both of the engine kill fuses in the underseat fuse panel and inserted them again and there we have it. working.

Very weird, concerning and suspicious.... 4.0 V8 Defender 90

It could be the contacts the fuse is seated into is loose, a little bit of corrosion or moisture.

Defenders get very high vibration levels and things can get loose by themselves, and then that causes voltage drop over the two fuse contacts by high resistance due to poor contact. But then that can vary by things such as atmospherics, wet conditions, cold weather, warmer weather and things like that sort of thing.

Glad it’s working for you, if the issue comes back I’d take a look at the fuse holder contacts, just the check they are clean and tight. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
