Brake vacuum pump
Had an "oily" smell while driving the2008 2.4 Puma yesterday. Pulled the bonnet today and the tell tale signs of a failing brake vacuum pump were there to see.
It was changed before in March 2013 at 78,650 kms.
The current reading is 214,040 kms. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Probably simply the gasket needs changing, or is it from somewhere else the source of the leak?

The coupling doesn’t even need to come off, just unbolt, replace gasket after cleaning mating surfaces lightly and re-torque to WSM settings for the fixings and that’s it. NEVER SURRENDER! ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Kind of hard to tell but there is a lot of oil on the pomp bolts and the interior was well sprayed. Hard to tell if it is just the gasket. It is not a big job. Won't be driving it until the repairs are done...less mess to clean up! Even managed to coat the back of the passenger door mirror! 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Update.
Left in the Puma 2.4 to get the vacuum pump replaced, also an oil/filter change as it was due. As the annual road worthiness test is due soon (your MOT) I asked him to check for anything that might need done. There were a number of things that needed seeing to, namely.
Front brake discs and pads were getting low so they were changed.
Swivel ball driver's side was pitted so that was changed.
There was an oil seep so the hub seal was changed.
A bearing was changed.
I intend to get the rear cross member replaced on the Puma next year.
While the Puma was in I was driving the 1982 2.25 series 111 diesel. Monday I was out and the fan belt snapped. Got home. Funny thing is that the fan belt was changed about 3,000 miles ago so there could be an alignment issue to cause it to go so soon.
Collected the Puma and left the series 111 in to the mechanic at .....6.30am this morning!
No bill yet as he has not made it out yet. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
