[For Sale] Land Rover 130 Ex-Ambulance Campervan

Land Rover 130 Ex-Ambulance Campervan

Due to a change of plans, I've decided to sell my LR Ambulance camper, I've added a few pics and a video, but will add a load more pics later.

I'm looking for £26,500 , but also open to sensible offers

Sizeable contribution to Martin/Forum if this sells here or on the Disco forum Thumbs Up

YouTube Video.....before rear storage cans added:

Please drop me a PM and I'll reply with my mobile so we can have a chat etc

V5 is present and is in my name listed against my address. Mileage is 58k ish

MOT Runs out on the 27th of August, but She's booked to go in for a brand new MOT on the 8th Aug, so this will be sold with Full MOT

Dimensions (cm's, please use as approximate)

External:
Length = 535 cm
Width = 180 cm
Height = 235 cm

Internal:
Length (back of drivers cab to rear doors) = 275 cm
Width (Window to Window) = 178 cm
Bed (Down flat) = 180 cm long x 115 cm wide
Height 1 (Pop top down) = 158 cm
Height 2 (Front area with pop top up) = 180+ cm*
Height 3 (Back area with pop top up) = 210+ cm*
*Ambulance is in my barn, so I can't put the pop top fully up, so a bit of estimation with last two heights)

Details:

This is a 1992 'J' reg Land Rover 130, which has an ambulance body, which served for many years as a Mountain rescue ambulance and previous to this an ambulance with Durham Ambulance service - I am the 6th Keeper since 1992 and in this time the Land Rover has only covered 59,000 miles (Miles will go up very slightly as I'm still using it). I purchased it in April 2021 and since then I have undertaken a load of mechanical work to make sure it's bulletproof, but I've also spend over £14k on converting the inside into a luxury camper, so it means that I'm able to go anywhere, while still enjoying some of the luxuries in life!

I've added pictures from it's days in mountain rescue, as well as some of the build. Please do have a close look at the photographs and send me any questions you may have. I have a stack of pics (Some of it in full mountain rescue livery), Will add a load at the end, once uploaded

Maintenance:

The following work has been carried out by a local Land Rover specialist (Somerset):
- Regular Servicing & MOT's (Oil change, fuel & Oil filters etc)
- Two new front Footwell Panels
- Various roll-bar bushes and replaced anti-roll bar
- Timing Belt & Tensioner changed
- Engine & Water Pump gasket changed during fitting of new Water pump
- New Clutch (Plate, cover, slave cylinder, fork & release bearing)
- New fuel tank
- Brake pipe changes to copper)

As well as various other changes, I guess I've spent well in excess of £4k just on the mechanicals!

I have receipts for all this work, which will of course come with the camper (As well as all the conversion paperwork).

The 200 TDi engine is probably the best Land Rover had (I prefer it to the 300) and while sounding a little agricultural, it is bullet proof and barely run in at around 59k miles! When cold starting it does occasionally blow a little smoke, but this clears up within a few mins.

I've also fitted two rear camera's with a cab mounted monitor, this allows you to use the main camera which points directly backwards as a rear view mirror and by selecting the second camera which points down allows you to reverse comfortably by highlighting any obstacles that may be in the way.

Cab is also fitted with 12v & usb sockets for charging phones etc - it also has a battery isolating switch which helps with security (Have included some pics of the cab).

With all this work put into the camper, it now means that mechanically the camper is 'sound' and will trundle along all day at 60 mph and occasionally when the need arises it can do 65 at a push!!! Oh, by the way, it will do this at a steady 30 (ish) MPG, which for it's age and weight is blooming marvellous!

Camper Conversion:

I originally wanted to do the conversion myself, but my wife wanted it done properly, so I went to 'VanLife' (Near Taunton) who specialise in van conversions into campers - and spend £14k on the build, but also spend another £2k on fitting a brand new and custom built floor to the camper/ambulance body as during the build we realised that the floor had rotted away. During this work, we also inspected the chassis of the LR and were pleased to see that everything was in great condition.

When I purchased the Ambulance, someone has previously added the pop-top, so I'm not sure of it's make, but it's brilliant and gives me the head height needed for such a vehicle. There is no bed in the pop-top, but during the conversion, I had built a steel frame (The Ambulance roof was sagging a tiny amount with the weight of the pop top) so that everything there is now solid and it could easily support the weight of a bed frame and person.

Details of the camper build include:
- Full, pull out double bed that also acts as a three seater bench seat
- Simple table that slots in place for dining, but can also slot onto the back door when camping for a bit of the open air!
- Integrated LPG gas bottle (Copper piping) and LPG auto gas filler (At rear of camper)
- Trauma central heating control panel, allows hot water and heating control
- Trauma 'Combi E' warm air heater with integrated hot water generator (Works off LPG or mains)
- Traveller 12v TV/DVD player
- Full carpet lining Walls & Ceiling)
- Heavy duty vinyl floor.
- Full 12v electrics. Leisure battery with new split charge
- Switch panel with USB sockets
- Full Led lighting.
- 240v hook up and rcd.
- Vitrifrigo c39i 12v fridge.
- 100w super thin roof mounted solar panel.
- Combi sink & twin gas burners (With hot/cold running water)
- Rear mounted hot/cold shower
- loads upon loads of storage for food, clothing, equipment etc
- Two jerry can storage lockers on the back for carrying tools, wet gear etc

I'm sure I've missed a few things off, but please do take a look at the video link above as well as pics for full details.

The Land Rover is now 32 years old and as such and while it has been maintained throughout it's life, it does show signs of it's age, I originally wanted something that looked and felt like an old Land Rover, but inside had the look and feel of a very posh camper, something I hope you will agree that I've achieved.

Underside of the Land Rover is solid, but of course with the usual odd bit of surface rust, the bottom of the passenger door is showing signs of bubbling, and the bulkhead area around the vents air vent has been addressed by a previous owner and will probably need sorting at some point (not the best use of paint matching also!). Other than this, there are a few odd dings and scratches around the Land Rover, but again please bare in mind that this is a 32 year old vehicle!

Sale is for the camper and as such does not include pots, pans, chairs or Oztent etc.

Summary:

If you are looking for adventure with a hint of luxury, then look no further than this cracking LR camper van, it will get you wherever you need to go, in all kinds of weathers (I've camped in January in the snow) and when you arrive, you can very quickly make a nice cuppa or crack open a nice cool beer!

I'm located in Somerset around 15 mins from Junction 22 (Burnham on Sea), happy to come and meet someone around the junction or slightly further apart if you are a serious buyer. I'm also happy to deliver if the price is sensible (and I get a lift to a local train station Whistle ), as long as a deposit has been paid before I set off. I'm also happy to pick you up from "Burnham & Highbridge' train station with the camper

I'm happy to answer all questions and send any more requested photographs and a WhatsApp video call etc & I'm also happy for people to come and have a look, indeed I would advise that you come and have a look first.

I think that's it for now, except for more pics below:

I have a stack more pics, including of the build, happy to send these over via WhatsApp if you drop me a PM

Cheers
