LOL, that's a joke right? Morocco/Mauritania, where's there's an ongoing border war with Western Sahara, and the rally's route literally crosses into the conflict zone -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

The seriousness is not funny at all, but I couldn't help imagine a more comedic run from bandits and laugh thinking of all the modern Defenders flying away from trouble and knowing my luck in the 300tdi, there'd be a mad panic when we reach an incline and the speed starts dropping... Judging by the number of overland vehicles motorcycles and bicycles crossing the border daily in large and small groups.. the possibility is rather diminished,
we had no issues with our vehicles (4x4 or bikes) crossing any of the borders .. but contact Nelson, the organiser directly to get a complete answer. He organises numerous events during the year and had lots of experience and up to date knowledge Im just a happy punter and will be touring Morocco again in the new year, but not part of the challenge group this time Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold Devon & Cornwall 4x4 Response - DC126 |

I too have been following this with interest.
It looks pretty gruelling - I'm used to long drives. Chernobyl and back in 10 days. Nordkapp and back in 12 days in winter. But this is fairly fast driving off road all day long. That being said, if I can find a co-driver who's mad enough to join me, I reckon I'm up for it. |
