I got an email today for
"Our first limited edition, Grenadier 1924, celebrating Belstaff’s first centenary, is now available to order for the first time.
Distinctive ‘1 of 1,924’ exterior and interior badging. Belstaff-inspired colours, outside and in. A dark front grille, dark skid plates, front and rear. A dark green finish on the dashboard, centre stack, overhead console, switchgear and door cards. And 17” diamond cut wheels.
Now’s your opportunity to make one of just 1,924 vehicles even more unique, by customising a Grenadier 1924 on our configurator."

Does anyone know how the cost of insuring a Grenadier compares to the cost of insuring a pre2016 Defender?

The defender should be cheaper due to availability of “impact” spares such as lights and exterior body panels.

But as we all know they make up the rules to suit themselves.

Managed to get a good look at the Quartermaster yesterday as the local dealer was having an event, looks good and I was offered an off road test drive at sometime in the next few weeks. But unless they can make more room in the footwell for my left leg it has to be a no from me.

Can I ask, have you actually tried one? I'm 6'3" and have just bought a 6 month old Utility and was a littler worried about the floor lump, but can honestly say that it doesn't bother me and I'm amazed it doesn't. Drove it 3 hours home from collecting it and not once did I feel it an issue and I'd sort of convinced myself I would.

The rest of it is that good - I really, really like it more than I thought I would, so try it before you finally rule one out. Much publicised "crap steering" is fine after 2 junctions and you're not sawing at the wheel on the road, despite the BF Goodrich All Terrains with which mine is shod.

Take the test drive, you might be surprised...

Yes I have driven one, I probably should have explained better, I did earlier on in the thread, I have various bits of metal and self tapper screws in my spine and left leg and there just isn't anywhere comfortable for my left leg to be with the ingress into the footwell. I like the car and especially the pickup but the only option for me would be to have a left hand drive one, but going off-roading to the Pyrenees once a year doesn't really justify buying a LHD one. Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

Another email and another special edition with the headliner trimmed in cashmere wool.
Detour’s headliner is trimmed in cashmere wool from Scottish maker, Johnstons of Elgin, topping off the vehicle’s unique interior. Experts in fibre creation since 1797, Johnstons of Elgin hold a royal warrant from His Majesty The King. The company’s cashmere in the Detour are available in two colours: light and dark grey.

The kind of thing that would take kindly to having three sheep thrown into the back of it Rolling with laughter

I like the Grenadier a lot, but that wouldn’t be the selling point that would swing my decision to buy one.

You never know, the sheep might enjoy the "ambience". Being happy sheep they might go for a better price at the mart. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Really just enforces the fact that they've decided now that their majority target market are those who are in the X5, G wagon, New Defender market.

I guess it makes sense, I can't imagine development and manufacturing is cheap, and whilst the numbers are relatively low they need to consider making some dosh to prove it's a successful venture.

I think the 2nd hand market will be where they start to get really tested in their sturdiness and capabilities.... which I guess is when the car has had some miles, things start to creak and we get to see the longevity in them. The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html

I said I liked the Grenadier. Well I like the G Wagon better

I doubt I would be moving my sheep in the G Wagon either?

I agree Ianb, older high mileage vehicles will tell whether the design and build quality is up to it or whether they become a money pit.

Well here is a chance for it to show its capabilities when being put in a tough environment, I've just seen that they have partnered with the RNLI. It's main role will be launching the D class lifeboat. So that will be salt, sand, more focus on the job than worrying about a bit of sand in the vehicle. The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html
