Changed the engine oil today and remembered to try that second method to reset the oil service message. Smile It didn't work Sad But something else showed up that I can't make head nor tail of:

Question
It is displayed when you switch OFF ignition again with the reset button still pressed.
I tried several combinations of ignition on/off and button presses but nothing else came up.

I’m assuming you get the normal mileage and trip mileage displaying when you turn the ignition key , just when you turn off the ignition while holding the trip reset you get the screen you show in the picture and wondering what it is.

I too am intrigued on what it’s showing

Plus a shame the Nanocom support process did not work, which seems to have been the case when someone else tried it and reported it did not work on the Nanocom forum. Perhaps it’s something that works on transits but not defenders.

Yes, what I did was: button press -> milage+trip, ignition on -> display goes blank, ignition off -> "R ..." shows until button is released. I didn't try to press the button after ignition on.

To my "software brain" this looks like a software version number, i.e. 7.4.0, the "R" for "release", but that's just a wild guess.

Unlikely. It's a MY 2015, produced September 2014.

It's also not the EKA Rolling with laughter

Just been on the Nanocom site and there is a beta 1.37 now available.
Among the updates is a reset for the oil service message.

Bugs & fixes:

It’s been 12 months but less than 5k miles since I last replaced the engine oil, hence the oil service message has popped up on the dash.

So I have just replaced the engine oil and filter but this time decided to see how the new Nanocom facility to clear the message would work.

I can report that it works perfectly and the oil service message can be cleared with the Nanocom now.

You need software version v1.37 or higher to do it, noting latest full software release is V1.38 ( I have this version loaded).

It’s all pretty simple, just connect Nanocom to OBD2 port, turn ignition key to II but don’t start engine.
Then on Nanocom menu select, Defender, Puma, Service reset, oil reset.

Power down Nanocom, remove ignition key, disconnect Nanocom from OBD2 port, insert key and turn to position II and the oil service message is gone Very Happy .
