Good news for you, maybe not so good for an owner five years down the line when they have to replace the turbo.
But l see your reasoning, if LR say only service every two years, and it's on a PCP, how many owners are going to pay out for extra oil changes when the dealer wants £300 to do it. |

I’ll be doing my new 90 at 6 months, 12 months and then the first official at 24months. I plan to minimise risk of engine issues by doing more frequent oil changes.

Is this madness, or are we still living in the days of mineral oils not expensive high specification fully synthetic oils as we use today? Just because our Mark 1 Escort required a service every six months, why do we still think this to be the case. By changing the oil sooner, is this just being environmentally irresponsible (whilst driving a four wheel drive brick with a nasty diesel engine that is lucky if it will do 30 miles to the gallon )?
I think it also depends on mileage and how much stop start slow driving the vehicle does. Does the Defender with its infotainment system not tell the driver when the oil needs changing rather than a standard 24,000 miles or two years? It's got to be a bit smarter than that, isn't it? |

Actually yes, mine is now saying it would like a service at 16,000 miles probably due to the short journeys that it often does. l still had the oil changed at 5,000 miles. Probably un-necessary as you say but it made me feel better so was worth it. |

Sorry to be a bit offtopic Why should the new owner have to replace the turbo after five years??? I had to replace mine after two and half years (41.900 kilometers). Oil changed according to the service plan at 33.000 kilometers. No need to wait for five years Miran L663 200 S 3,0 |

Someone convince me that's a good thing. Here's an article on oil change frequently for piston engined aircraft. lf engine oil is so much better now, how come they're still recommending an oil change every 25 hours flying time, and the oil filter at every other oil change (50 hours) https://www.shell.com/business-customers/a...h-ram.html |

Most piston aircraft engines are air cooled so looser tolerances, burn heavily leaded fuel, fly at or near full throttle all the time, and aircraft oil technology doesn’t progress. (The only synthetic I know of is for diesels.)

JLR have been known for their great ability of building strong ingenium diesel engine.
My XF 2.0d ingenium required one oil change every 3 weeks, diesel in the sump. Had to sell it after 6k miles and 12 services in 14 months. The 3.0dv6 was better but again oil change every 6k miles because oil in the sump. Not sure the 6L Ingenium is any better. My plan is to change oil every 6k miles or 6 months. Even if I am not buying it at the end of the pcp I rather be sure I am travelling trouble free. The annoyance of dealing with dealer/customer service/ rental companies when your new car has troubles is much higher than the cost of an oil service. |

Ill be changing mine after 10k/1year. For the sake of £50 plus a filter on an £80k asset its a no brainer. If I decide to keep it after 4 years I will have the best chance of a much tighter engine for the next few years. 2024 L663 110 Defender P400e Carpathian Grey

To be fair, my '2 years' = 16000 miles, so it's not that ludicrous. If I trusted LR engines enough, I probably would plan to keep the vehicle longer, but I don't think I can afford to run the car, out of warranty.

The full LR extended warranty plan is pretty good. Covers virtually everything for about £1300pa up to 100k miles. Never had anything declined on that plan for my last Autobiography SDV8 which I ran up to 98k 2024 L663 110 Defender P400e Carpathian Grey
