LRSOC 'Jorvik Rally 2024'
The Land Rover series one club held its national rally near Easingwold in North Yorks last weekend. A great rally with some 240 series ones attending, coming from all over the UK and Ireland, as well as a few from Europe and one chap who drove (no trailers for him!) all the way from Norway. There were some rare and interesting vehicles there, including some continental conversions. I was one of the organisers so didn't get the chance to leave the site for some of the off road runs, one of which was over Ruddland Rigg which by all accounts everyone enjoyed - I have done it previously.

I was told that VUE 827 was the Land Rover featured in the old Pathe films where the driver gets out, sits on the wing and then lights a pipe whilst still in motion!

I dread asking questions like this, but what's that on the front of the bonnet of LYO836?

On Sunday I took a group of Somerset and Wiltshire members on a run to Hawnby(pub stop), over Snilsworth Moor to my home village of Osmotherley and back to the rally site via the back lanes of Borrowby and Knayton.

They are Amber ( if memory serves) flashing lights fitted to Civil Defence Auxiliary Fire Land Rovers and probably other Civil Defence vehicles such as Austin Gypsys.

Request to use image of PAC 519 and PAC 519 at Jorvik 2024
Strang, I am a new member who would like to use the excellent image of Series I PAC 518 "Isis" and PAC 519 "Granta" on display at LRSOC Jarvik 2024. My use would be in an e-book that I am developing about air ferry companies that transported vehicles over the English Channel from the late 1940s-early 1970s. The requested image would be paired with one showing both Series I Station Wagons Isis and Granta loading into a Silver City Airways Bristol Freighter at the start of the 1954 Trans-Africa Expedition by Oxford and Cambridge students, thus showing the vehicles in the past and present. I appreciate your time in reviewing and responding to this inquiry.
