In my TDi300 the only security “feature” I added was the Optimil quick release steering wheel and the column cover. In my 2020 L663 110 I added nothing but this week as I’ll shortly be venturing to an airport long term carpark and later in May down south into the badlands of North Yorkshire I purchased a whacking great motorcycle chain from Halfords.
Why? It’s the first time I’ve been worried not about having the car stolen but really concerned about having the spare wheel removed while parked in strange places…….. £39 for a little bit of piece of mind€ to delay the thief a bit longer at his job if I cannot back the car up against solid wall.
It doesn’t live on the car full time, only when the car is parked overnight in places where the security isn’t that great.

lt's a good idea.

Spare wheel theft is definitely an issue, unless like me you have the white steel wheels
lt seems you can't give them away.

Has anyone had experience of a Ghost Immobiliser fitted to a new Defender as I am about to take delivery and a little concerned about theft but heartening to read that they are not that easy to steal.
Any comments gratefully received.

Mudlark - did you have Ghost fitted in the end? MY25 90 D350 X-Dynamic HSE in Silicon Silver and coil sprung

Many Range Rovers and Land Rovers over the years 😂

I’ve a ghost on my d300, once you get used to the starting sequence it’s great, but initially you’d forget, the car would start but as soon as you got into gear it would shut down. Then wait a few seconds and go with correct starting sequence and all good.
It becomes second nature.

Thanks. Does your remote start on In control app still work with the ghost fitted? I’ve heard you need to mention it on install MY25 90 D350 X-Dynamic HSE in Silicon Silver and coil sprung

Hi DrRob, Yes I did have it fitted and so far all good. It took a little time to get the PIN sequence off by heart but it's a great security blanket as it would be nigh on impossible for anyone else to guess the sequence even if they knew it was installed. It has a service mode when it needs to go to the dealership but this also has a background setting so even if it was stolen from the dealership it couldn't be taken too far.

I’ve never used the remote start so cannot comment on that, but I can’t ever see a reason for me to start the car without being there. Also all remote features are off whilst in Guardian mode.

Telemarkskier - why have you been charged for recall work, this should be FOC even if you are out of warranty?

Its just their internal audit trail. Bill goes to Land Rover warranty claims not my wallet! That empties quick enough when filling up with diesel. 2020 Defender 110 SE 240D: Fuji White.

My dealer has asked me to book my MY2022 P300 110 in for security update N693.

I am unclear why others have a different update number. Is it because mine is petrol rather than diesel I wonder?

Nice idea but

Get in that Defender and drive away, you'd barely notice the chain break.
