Pulled my head due to the cooling system getting pressurized. Brought it to the machine shop and they discovered micro-cracks between the glow plug outlets and the intake seats. It pressure tests just fine and they say it is fine to use. I know of other engine types where such micro-cracks are just fine but we don't have any experience with this engine over here as it never came here.
Anyone have experience with this they can share? TIA |

Mine had this - if it wasn't for a faulty expansion tank cap that didn't relieve when required I may never have known.
Turner Engineering say new heads are getting more & more popular! HTH Keith |

Appreciate the info.
So yours was cracks in the combustion face leaking through and pressurizing the coolant? |

Yes - I thought it was just the head gasket, but when I did a final clean with a fine scotch pad and a little white spirit, there were two tiny cracks as you describe. Head gasket showed no signs of failure and it had never been overheated in the 210k km I've owned it.

Thanks! You have saved me from doing the job twice. New head from Turner is on the way.
