I bought a nice USB charger from MUD : https://www.mudstuff.co.uk/products/usb-an...5964364885
It's connected to a voltage sensing relay. Each time I turn on the ignition, I need to reset the charger with the little button as it trips. Mud have been good enough to send me a 2nd to check the problem is not with the USB charger. It's definitely a problem with my electrics. Is there something I can put into the circuit to stop the thing tripping every time? I wouldn't mind so much but it's on the back of the cubby box so a pain to reach (it's for my wife's phone...). Alternatively, I could run another wire from permanent live. |

Not sure what you mean.
There's a small button on the USB charger that I assume is the equivalent of a fuse. That trips every time. The only way to make the charger work is to reset by pushing the button. |

the on/off button rather than trip on the usb charger.
what exactly is it connected to on the VSR? i would suggest, as mentioned above, what ever it is connected to looses its 12v supply on cranking. just connect it straight to perm 12v. Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

As James has said, straight to permanent 12v.

Assuming the VSR is not energised until the engine starts anyway (i.e. when the battery voltage is >13v)?
The button on that USB is just a momentary on/off button so it no doubt defaults to 'off' whenever power to it is cycled. If you want it switchable then as said above, needs a constant supply. Otherwise use a version without the on/off switch. Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

Look for USB charger with rocker switch instead of on with push button switch. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo

I see my mistake now. I thought the button was the equivalent of a fuse, not an on-off switch.
I'll wire it in permanently or see if I can disable the switch. thanks all for the feedback. |

With USB charger connected to 12V all time look for current consumption of the charger itself - is can drain battery, when the car is not used for longer time. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo
