1988 OneTen, unused wire identification centre console
Hi all,

new to Land Rover vehicle electrics.
My OneTen has an aftermarket centre dash fitted which I took off to install a few USB sockets and a Coolant level warning light.

I found a number of unused wires in there that don't connect to anything.
There is a white one, which I believe is the ignition feed?
there is a green one, which I would expect to be somehow light related? It has a spade socket at the end so I would have thought it should connect to something?
and we have a red-white wire as well...

Anyone able to help with the identification or point me in the right direction?

On a side note, am I right to assume that red wires would be a permanent live?

Thanks. Thumbs Up

From 1986, a "one size fits all" composite main wiring harness was fitted to 90's, 110's (and 127's).

This has provision for both petrol and diesel engines, as well as some of the options.

So, there will be several unused connectors behind the instruments and the centre of the dash.

Brown wires are unfused permanent live.

White wires are unfused ignition-switched live.

Purple wires are fused permanent live.

Green wires are fused ignition-switched live.

Red wires are sidelights/instrument illumination.

Blue wires are main/dipped lighting.

The exact circuits are denoted by trace colours on the wires. Paul.

Thank you PaulMc!

This is a brilliant response and also thanks for the general info about wire colours. This will make reading the diagrams so much easier... Bow down
