Interior Lights
I have been looking tonight at interior lights, I have been using the factory fitted one for many years without a problem, but with a SMD LED panel fitted in it.
All has been good with that, and I’m happy with its performance.

I am just wondering IF, and it’s a big if, one of the other two options out there might be brighter?

Which would you say performs better out of the two poll options?
Both have red and white options, the Nak one is less work to fit but is more expensive.
The Mud offering is cheaper, more work to fit and seems to have a 2 way switch a downgrade from the factory 3 way Off, On Door +, On Perm +.

When I say which performs better, I’m am thinking of light spread and brightness.
Has anyone had experience of the two at the same time?

I would tend to be leaning towards the Nak option due to factory switching and homogenisation and in- keeping with the factory fit look.
Then again the Mud offering might be higher output, as it seems to have a different LED array.

The Nak version has its current draw specs, the Mud version I haven’t had a look at but I had only had a quick look both are probably similar on current draw, much lower than the factory incandescent interior light bulb.

That’s interesting, only when I looked on the site it appeared to have markings on the switch as being two, or looked like a two-way due to the photo.

I have the Mud ones in my Td5 and love them, only issue I have is the red light in the front lamps is too bright for night driving so just use the rear red interior light.

Wales 2007 Defender 90 Other CSW Trident Green
as an alternative to mud and nak, for those on a budget, these are fantastic and easy to fit take out the old bulb and replace it with the supplied one, they give a large bright pool of light available on eBay and cheap as chips.

Gilarion - Yes, I have seen those those SMD LED chips on eBay they are much better than any of the traditional LED’s.
Brighter and spread light better.
I have similar to that now, only a little wide PCB panel with the SMD Chips mounted on it in the holder.
They last a long time, I think they are 5050 SMD LED chips, mounted on a small rectangle PCB board, that fits the existing light fitting.
They use way less power than the factory fitted bulb about 1/4 the power.
I’ve used them on the interior light for many years now, never any issue at all with the AS10.

If I remember rightly there is about upto 1A load available on each interior light circuit, more than enough for nearly everything LED interior wise.
Just use behind the light @1A fuse in parallel to the switch contacts, for anything else and it will mirror the light switch settings and AS10 flawlessly without issue.
Fuse then means everything is protected and if anything else should go wrong AS10 is protected and the interior light should also still be protected and active.
If a fuse needs to be replaced just pop the light out and change it over, never needed to but fusing it is always the way to go.
That’s what I do, adding extra old space light bars can be useful for some people.
