Silicone Coolant 5 Hose Kit - VARIOUS Colours??
Hi folk

A few of my hoses are getting near to end of life and I've been looking at the Silicone Coloured hose kits ...

For example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274856453995?ha...SwHDdcNjJi

Anyone fitted them or know why they may not advisable to fit??

Many thanks

I bought this kit in September. Works as it should. No problems

More hoses. More colours. Cheaper. And choice of clips included.

They also do the turbo hoses as well

Both kits linked look OK.

I am on my second kit. The first didn’t break or anything, but the pipe that fits to the bottom of the radiator wasn’t made with a moulded join/branching piece, but a metal T. The problem with this was that even with the hoses pushed as far as possible onto the radiator and the T piece, it ended up only being a few mm from the fan belt - too close for comfort.

I replaced that with something like the kits linked and gained a good few centimetres of clearance. Just something to be aware of.

The other thing to note about silicone (particularly on the turbo I’ve found) is that the join needs to be made when the hose and spigot is clean and dry. It’s inevitable there will be some oil leaving the turbo, this can lubricate the joint with a slippy silicone hose. I had mine pop off the turbo 2 or 3 times before I made sure it was scrupulously clean. I also read up on Murray type clips (like ‘jubilee’ clips) which are supposedly better at dealing with the heat cycles of expansion/contraction. More pricey though. Donald

Just be careful on what silicone hoses you buy, make sure the quality is there as i bought a silicone hose kit with out doing to much homework on them and one of mine de-laminated on the inside and started to clog up the internals, i was lucky as my indy spotted this before it got to serious. You get what you pay for these days, lesson learnt buy me Rolling Eyes
I replaced all of mine with good quality hoses now Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

i am on the fence with Silicone hoses, my dad fitted Ali sport hoses to his defender 200 TDi and they were a very tight fit. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Looking at replacing the rubber / fabric intercooler hoses on my 300TDi - any recommendations for good brands or suppliers?

I noted that Allisport were almost double the price of Britpart but are they "double the quality"?

I seem to remember that Roose Motorsport make the Allisport ones, Samco produce for BAS and Britpart’s come from SFS. Maybe check their respective websites for detailed specs. Ply, materials etc.
I have always been very happy with Allisport and BAS hoses but haven’t tried Britpart. WARNING.
