Remote locking broken

Hi my defender 90 got broken into recently but they failed to steal it thanks to the immobiliser. Unfortunately they damaged the remote locking as I can lock or unlock it. I noticed that they took off side indicator light and joined the wires together, may be they tried to bypass the immobiliser somehow. What could have happened to the remote locking if anyone knows? Thanks

Check for blown fuses, the indicator trick cases the alarm/10AS fuse to blow when the alarm is triggered, later vehicles had a wiring mod to fix this extraordinary.and inexcusable design weakness.
