I don't know from the Defender but on a CT disco, the lights on the bullbar were connected with the full beam. The lights on the roof rack were connected to 2 different switches as you had 2 diffrent types on the roofrack. The outher ones were for far away and the middle ones gave a wide pattern.
On the D3 G4 only one switch for the roofrack and one type off lights. I really likes the Camel lights and I hardly use the G4 lights. The Xenon lights on the G4 are that much better you don't need the other lights. Visual evidence from my collection of Camel Trophy videos suggest that the Defenders were wired in the same way as Roel has described for the Dicoverys, ie you see vehicles iwth one pair, the other pair, or both pairs of rack lights on without headlights.

Thanks for the replies, it makes sense that the Defender spots would be the same as Discoveries scenes as they are the same lights. Also those Discoveries look pretty smart Roel 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

Roel,
Are your G4 Disco lights not the Warn dual beam (160)? Maybe not as its newer but my 2003 G4 Defender has the dual beams. Each of the 4 lights has a 'spot and flood' beam. Or, maybe one of the beams hasn't been wired in? I've recently installed mine and it took me a week of evenings!!! P.S. Both awesome looking wagons!!!! Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful! |

Impossible. There's no such thing as too much light. Or even "enough" light! |

Roel, I forgot to mention.. Does the switch stop the roof rack spot lights from coming on with the full beam or are they a completely different system unrelated to full beam? 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

At the Camel they were fully independant.
At the G4 the car normal lights have to be on otherwise the roofrack light won't work. Roel 1984 90 2.5 na Diesel - RR V8 (1994-2001) 1997 Camel Trophy Discovery 300TDI (2001-2009) 2005 G4 Discovery III 4.4 V8 (2008-2018) It's gone but it still hurts. 2003 90 Td5 (2009-now) |

Can anyone please tell me which spotlights, model and size were used on the original CT 110s?
