Coolant draining small quantity
Just drained my 2.4 coolant system as per the manual, open reservoir and bleed screw, remove fuel cooler pipes and main coolant pipe above the oil filter housing, heater on hot and Roughly only 6 litres came out. I was on the understanding that the system was 10L! What did I do wrong? Thanks

You will still have coolant in the heater matrix and in the Radiator.

Getting the coolant out of the heater matrix is hard, you could disconnect the pipes from the heater valve and flush it out with a few litres of fresh coolant, or vacuum or blow it out, but you will still likely have some of it left in there. So I don’t think it’s worth it as it’s only a small amount of coolant, unless you think the existing coolant is contaminated in some way.

For the main radiator, you can disconnect a bottom rad hose and a fair amount of coolant will come out. It’s a bit fiddly to get to the clamp and hose but can be done.
IIRC there is a small hose at the bottom offside of the radiator, just below the main bottom hose, it may be easier to get that one off to drain.

Note. coolant will go all over the chassis and other components and will be hard to catch, so have a very big container to catch it, and hose down any parts of the vehicle it gets on.

I wonder why they don’t mention this in the manual! Thanks
