Drivers door lock.....dropping/relaxing?
Ive been having an issue with the central locking from the drivers door. When you open the car it goes up and then when the actuator has pushed the button up, it relaxes (for want of a better word!) and it drops ever so slightly.
This then means the door doesn't fully lock but it wont open from the inside or out, it does not instigate the central locking, but is on the brink, if you touch teh button it then locks lol!
I then have to either lock the car by pushing it down or pull up the button slightly to allow the door to open.
I changed the actuator at the weeknd as i thought it may be that and I've greased everything.
Other than being £40 quid down and the new actuator being twice as loud as the old one, it's still pushing it up then dropping slightly when it "relaxes".....so I'm in the same boat Rolling Eyes

Any advice would be appreciated Thumbs Up

Have you checked the plastic button surround?

I had a similar problem and there was a crack in the plastic, which meant the door lock actuator wasn't able to push or pull the button correctly to complete the sequence to lock or unlock and it sat in between. Craig.

You need to adjust the position of the threaded barrel on the rod that operates the lock which in turn pushes/pulls the locking button. If the actuator isn't pushing the lock mechanism far enough it won't lock/unlock correctly and you will have all sorts of fun and games with mis locks, alarm triggering, etc.

Take off the door card, peel back the plastic sheet if still installed and look at the rods that operate the lock. The one from the CDL actuator will have a small plastic clip that holds a threaded barrel. Disconnect the threaded barrel from the plastic keeper and adjust one turn at a time, refit and test. When I've done this, I open the windo so I can reach in if needs be, use a screwdriver to operate the latch as if the door was closed, press the door switch in with my finger then trigger the remote locking. See if the lock button goes down far enough and that the door cannot be opened in the normal way using the handle from outside. Then unlock and check the lock mechanism is pushed far enough by the CDL actuator, check this by trying to see if the door now be opened from the outside. Once you're satisfied it is triggering OK, close the door and try the sequence again. The reason I do the first operations with the door open is so I can see the rods moving.

Also check there is not too much resistance in the movement of the locking button in its guide (the one that is attached to the door by two screws) and the escutcheon (is that the right description?) - the piece of trim that nestles in the door card.

That makes sense, if it were another 5mm up it would probably not drop.
Could you let me know which area the threaded barrel is as I cant locate it?
(is it the pice on top of the actuator?)

Pic of my internals attached (so to speak Laughing )

I have added an arrow to your pic but it looks like yours doesn't have the threaded barrel like my 2002 Td5 does.

Hiya, sorry it's a bit later than intended. Here's a pic or three of the linkage on my 2002 Td5.

I wonder if it is worth trying to raise the vertical position of the CDL actuator a bit? Make the holes a bit bigger and slide it up a few millimetres and tighten down?
