United Kingdom 2007 Defender 90 2.5 TD CSW Cairns Blue
Thanks
I have a D300 HSE 110 on order. It seams to have disappeared and nothing gets the spec that I want or more accurately avoids the spec I dont want.
Looks like another cancelled order.

I’m hoping to be offered a D350 instead of the D300 that was supposed to be collected next week.
It’s been written off before leaving the factory due to an accident.

I'm really struggling with them, ongoingly erasing their glorious heritage by deleting the iconic Land Rover badge, that somehow turns the Defender to a no-name car from the side-view and pushes the signature graphic now to ultimate pointlessness. Sad

With the massive increase of similar Asian products entering the market, my strategy would be the exact opposite thus to post the iconic and extremely well established Land Rover Badge wherever possible!

It started on 24MY, they deleted the tailgate badge but fixed it on mine

Same with me (kind of)… Very Happy

While a D350 sounds fun, l've never actually had my D250 flat out, even when towing the caravan. So for me it would depend on how much extra it cost.

My D200 order was cancelled "no longer available" and l had to pay an extra £3,000 for the D250. Even the salesman admitted it was "software" and "didn't cost any more to make"

HSE spec now has Windsor leather as a 2k option Shocked
Clearsight £630 and no option for ivory leather, all interior options are black.
I think I will stick with my D300 X Dynamic HSE from 2023.
Would love the D350, but it all now comes with spec compromises and other additional costs.

On this new configurator the base model Defender Commercial is no longer listed. The cheapest is now the "S" at £57,000

What a mess this all is....

We've got a 110 V8 (5.0 525) and a 110 p400e in the family, and it's hard to see the new offerings as anything other than a downgrade...

How on earth can detuning the 2.0 PHEV achieve anything? There's no way it makes it more economical in the real world...

I thought they were supposed to be bringing us the 3.0 PHEV engines from the RRs?

No proper V8 available in the 110 either now, only the de-tuned p425

Plus a whole load of new hideous colours and interior choices... Land Rover seem very lost... Cheers, David
Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8.

We were going to be ordering the D300 90 at the end of May and now it’s not even an option. D350 is a big increase in price to the D300 with all the extras we are after so it looks like only option is the D250 🤷🏼‍♀️. At least one of the options we were adding is now included!

The D250 is all the engine you'll ever need in a Defender.

That’s good to hear. We did originally decide on the D250 but on reading all recommendations to go for the D300 we changed our mind! Looks like back to the D250!

(Edited to delete quote from completely the wrong person Laughing Laughing Laughing )

On the phev front, the downtuning has resulted in a massive reduction in the official CO2 emissions - now around 60-64g per km for the P300e compared to (if I remember correctly) around 170 for the P400e. (I got that from playing on the configurator yesterday). Whether that turns into savings in mpg or simply represents gaming of the official tests I don’t know

Land Rover are playing to a market, and you can't really blame them.

l see a lot of new Defenders in my travels, particularly in the posh areas like Wilmslow, Cheshire. l counted fifteen in 10 minutes driving through last time. Plenty in the posh areas of Harrogate as well.

They were all 110's, not a single 90....and none with the base specification or steel wheels. Most were in all black with the largest wheels and plenty of accessories fitted.

l didn't see a single old type Defender. "Classic" Defenders used to be quite common round these places, again generally in black with black alloys and looking very nice l might add but they've largely gone now.

These buyers aren't interested in the off road capabilities or whether you can lock the differentials manually (although l bet that option was ticked on the configurator) or the fact that the V8 is now slightly de-tuned.
They want a vehicle that's good to be seen in, and better than next door's generic SUV.

lt's not a bad thing l guess, but the person l was visiting (who has lived there for fifty years) says that's the way it is round there. 90% of the vehicles are on PCP and not owned. She says a lot of them "can't really afford" the vehicles or lifestyle but looking at the houses and other vehicles l have to say l didn't see any signs that money was tight.

Anyone else noticing that the bodywork colours on the configurator appear to have changed? The Pangea Green, for example, appears to be a moodier, darker shade than before.
