Wheel bearing was all good, just a slightly bent dust cover for the brake disc, straightened out and all good now.

Passed an MOT and back on the road Very Happy Still a fair list of bits to fettle and sort (oil leaks Rolling Eyes) but so nice to have it back on the road and go out for a spin on an evening soft tops were made for:

Bow down great result there! One thing id say is security, optimil steering boss on that, so you can take the wheel off it. Stops the sweet hearts from trying again Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Cheers all Thumbs Up

Out and about, few more miles done - just a shame the weather hasn’t always been particularly soft top friendly the last few weeks!!

As per Procta’s advice, Optimill boss with Mota-lita wheel is on. The wheel is lovely, I was originally a bit annoyed about having to give up the factory 4 spoke wheel that I really like but this new one has a lovely feel.

Had a rather agricultural go at improving the tracking after noticing a bit of inside shoulder wear on the fronts, seemed to be a good bit out so hopefully this will be an improvement.

Finally for a bit of bling - slapped some left over paint on the rocker covers Cool There’s still some general tidying up to do in the engine bay for more aesthetic photos

Big summer update Very Happy

Went on a 1300 mile camping road trip around Scotland! Not the NC500, just made our way around various places we wanted to see, went to Skye and through the Cairngorms etc. Got some nice scenic pics and drove some truly stunning roads - think the 90 looked nicely at home in the Scottish highlands!

This was roughly our route, completed in 7 days:

It was pretty grey and wet for the vast majority of the week but we had a great time nonetheless and most importantly - no calls to the AA Very Happy 15 petrol stops (conservative with range due to the infrequency of Highlands petrol stations)

Since that trip I've been chasing a few robustness improvements and preventative maintenance - we did have a cut-out on a mountain pass which I put down to fuel starvation. I had a nagging feeling the unbranded fuel pump I bought originally was on it's way out so splashed out on a posh red top one which has been doing the job nicely since:

Fixed a leak on one of the rear hubs (embarrassed to discover I fitted the inner seal the wrong way round during the rebuild) Embarassed

New fuel gauge and fuel sender fitted - E10 had eaten the unbranded sender I fitted a few k miles ago, and the gauge always had a dead spot below 1/3rd, all working nicely now:

New standard springs all round - I never got the springs on the right corner after the rebuild (too crusty to have any identifying marks so I think I took a guess and got it wrong, plus I think they were getting a bit saggy). Sits more level and rides much better now:

New clutch master cylinder - was getting the feeling the bite point was changing and pedal felt a little spongy, I bled the system which improved it a lot for a few days and then it gradually rose again so suspect it was leaking past the seals on the master:

Finally, made the trek to a very wet and muddy Goodwood last weekend for the Revival. It absolutely teemed it down all morning which made the carpark rather fun for getting out - great weekend!

Bit of an overdue update, just been very much enjoying it during the summer months. Will be interesting to see how much I use it/get on with the soft top as Winter approaches but currently it's almost doing more miles than my proper daily Thumbs Up Matt.

HD drive flanges for the sake of it Thumbs Up also i see you took my advice about the steering wheel. Thumbs Up I know its not ideal but its another security layer.

A wise chap I went greenlaning with a few times always said leave the drive flanges standard - they act a bit like a shear bolt in the transmission, cheap and easy to replace. Just carry a spare one.
