2ltr first edition 2020 igenium oil dipstick
Hi all
Might be a stupid question but i just want to check.
I got this defender couple of weeks ago.

Question- is it normal for the oil dipstick to have a twist in it?

Thanks in advance

Twisted, yes.

And a related question: Is anyone else's P300 dipstick really difficult to push in? Mines a two-handed affair as I carefully inch it along while it scrapes its way down the tube. I've done three oil changes so far and cringe every time I have to pull the dipstick.

It is literally the worst dipstick I have ever seen. I have been changing oil for decades and I can't seem to get a clean read on it unless the oil is already black and even then, it's still guess work.

Fully agree, the twist is horrible and the stick is about 1km long. Such a hassle to read. One of my kids cars has a very simple steel multistrand wire. So easy to read.

I'd actually prefer the digital oil level reading (a la D4) over this abortion that is the ingenium twisted dipstick.

I STAND CORRECTED. Went and checked, my P400SE has a straight dipstick, I.e. no twist. It's still way too long and a pita to get in. Oil level checks out well though, 4000km since my first oil change, level is steady and colour is good. In the first 10k kms, the level did drop slightly.

Being conscientious,I checked my wife's Jeep engine oil, THAT has the twisted dipstick, but it's not as long, and still a pita to push all the way home.

I presume the D250 is different. Never had any issues with it. Hated the electronic system on the D4. Never Flt I could trust it. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.
