Not the best photo as I don’t have the defender anymore.
But I can’t remember mine being particularly raked Click image to enlarge |

My factory aerial (2008 Puma), before I replaced it, was definitely not raked. The Naka replacement sits completely vertical too, although the mounting is not identical.
I've always found that the aerial is within the driver's view, and I prefer the short black Naka one to the tall shiny factory fit partly for that reason (and better reception: function over form!). From memory, the factory aerial has a mount inside the wing, so the angle is not dependent on the top of the wing: a tiny adjustment below would produce a larger effect above when the aerial is extended. If the rain stops I will take a photo... |

Vertical for both Gen and Naka versions, has it been pushed out of position from underneath?
The hidden section below goes into a black tube if I remember rightly, may have been knocked to the side. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

There is (or should be) a clip inside on the inner wing which holds the black plastic tube into which the aerial retracts. I wonder if the tube hasn't been inserted into the clip correctly.
It is a surprisingly awkward thing to see, since it is under the wing in an inaccessible spot and the bonnet gets in the way of your head. A torch and small mirror (or I suppose a smart phone in video/photo mode) might help you see what is going on. There is definitely something not right about that one though! Italian, from Pisa perhaps? |

I fitted a genuine LR aerial to my 90 recently and as above, assuming yours is also genuine, there is no angle adjustment, it should sit vertically.
The two clamps that sit either side of the wing are flat and once tightened, set the upright angle. Here’s a genuine aerial showing the arrangement. As Blackwolf referenced, there’s another bracket that attaches to the inner wing and the black plastic section of the aerial, but that’s just to keep it all sturdy. Click image to enlarge If it’s not a genuine aerial, perhaps it does have some adjustment of the angle. |

This is quite possible, I’ve seen parts that has angle adjustment that is optional to fit. That being said, I think it’s probably more likely it’s been knocked or hit accidentally. If you ever go on a Byway, with the aerial up, it’s very easy for it to get bent or snapped off. There are some that are electrically mechanised so come up when the HU radio is on, they aren’t that common though. The Naka one is good for most use I think, it works well. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Can you still slide it in and out?
What happens if you 'twist' it by 180degree? does is slant outwards instead? I believe the clip that Blackwolf refers to is on the bulkhead, and there seems to be quite some adjustment that can be done. Click image to enlarge Edit: Ignore that its not a Puma bulkhead, but the aerial anchor is the same. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |
