All these cars that are "becoming available". How do you know these are not rejects, like maybe yours was?

There must a few cars bouncing around the system, maybe for good reason (cancelled order etc), or because there is something amis and they have been previously rejected.

I guess the 1st decision given your experience so far has to be do you want another Defender?

If not, then I would still push for a return with full refund and no requirement to replace. From discussions on a VW forum that I participate on, it seems as though you have 30 days from collection to initiate the discussion. If this is correct and you started the discussion on a refund within 30 days, then there shouldn't be a problem. Don't let JLR or the dealer try to push you into a replacement if that isn't what you want.

Initially thought this wasn’t a bad offer, will cover the payments for a few months but after that it’s back to square one paying for a car I don’t have if they haven’t fixed it by that point. I’ve got a feeling that because I’ve raised a rejection case and settled it by accepting the comp I wouldn’t be able to do it again if it was dragging on for months without a solution and they would have no obligation to resolve it within a certain timeframe.

I think the only way I would be happy with this was to agree a reasonable timeframe for them to fix it within and if not met agree to reject. On the flip side they fix it within a few weeks and I’m a few k up but considering they have had it over a month already and made no progress and still don’t know what the issue is it’s unlikely.

The dealer called me back not long after that saying that one of their dealers is expecting a pretty much identical defender to mine to come into stock at the end of the month, minis 22inch alloys, dark grey cross beam and matrix headlights and if I would be interested in that. Due to the options it’s a few k cheaper than what I currently have.

Compensation is for the current issues experienced and does not negate any ongoing issue and or your subsequent right to reject should the problem return or continue. They have to put it right.

Any news on the new Landcruiser? It's been stuck on "coming soon" for over a year now I think. It is a nice looking truck - especially the ltd edition spec. https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

Annoyingly the configurator is live in the US but not in the UK.
