Good luck from me too, be sure to check the lights etc, and tyres. Sure you will anyway!

I've been chasing a squeak from one of the front pulley's on the Td5 110 . I replaced the belt tensioner pulley and that didn't cure the issue. But the noise sounded like it was the coming from the same area.
Fast forward two weeks to yesterday. While I was in the loft putting stuff away, I came across an old idler pulley. Took this to the shed and soaked the bearing in 3 in 1 oil while I looked at the focus.

Managed to get some Landy time and replaced the pulley. Noise gone Smile
The squeak was coming from the top idler pulley nearest the engine block.
New one needed. 1999 Defender TD5 110

After 3 years off the road for many a reason, it's time to get Big Red road-worthy again. Bought a new battery this week and she started immediately. Very Happy
She'll be going in for a MOT this week so fingers crossed. Today will be spent sorting a few electrical bits out and giving her a clean...

Well she failed (as expected) but only on the prop shaft, track rod end and position lamp not working.

All easily sorted by myself at home so I'm well happy! Not bad for being off the road for so long. Very Happy

I took mine for its MOT. All advisories addressed since last year along with a whole lot more and in the 1383 miles covered in 12 months, no more bad points were found - clean pass. 2003 110 G4 used in 03 and 06 events - its well travelled.

Replaced and rewired the amber roof beacons on the landy. New wire and new connectors.
The idler pulley I fitted the other week appears to have failed. It was an old spare I had from a couple of years ago. But I do have a new one to replace it. Thats a job for next week. 1999 Defender TD5 110

I thought the replacement idler pulley would fix the squeak but no. I think its the other idler pully (nearest the washer bottle) - a new one on order.

Went looking for play in the steering. Found the steering box drop arm had some play in the arm on the splines from the steering box. Bent the locking tab washer out the way and re-torqued the nut.
Hopefully job done.

Then found some play in the steering damper bush at the fixed end. - new bush on order.
Oil/water/screen wash checked Smile 1999 Defender TD5 110

Not today but on Sunday ( yesterday ) i gave Millie a thorough wash at my local garage, it took 3 coins this time as she was well and truly muddy which she got on the Saturday after a great days green laning and on the Sunday i had to refit the N/S rear mud flap as it decided to come off from the body one end, i cable tied it up until i could do the fix, all done as if nothing had happened Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Replaced the bushes in the steering damper - no more play. Smile

Also replaced (or so I thought I was going to do) the idler pulley that sits behind the radiator hoses.
I ordered a new one and this came with a new bolt and domed washer. All good.

Off with the belt and off with the pulley.
New pulley attached and tightened up. But....with the new pulley on it span freely and OK, but I found if wiggled the pulley I had play. Sad

Going back to the old bolt and washer, still the same.

Then I went back to the old pulley and old washer & bolt. No wiggle.

Faulty pulley ? Something I have missed? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Replaced upper and lower shock rear absorber bushes with new ones as the MOT man advised they had play. Hopefully new ones will do the trick.

Just did the same, though only 1 side Whistle Once the damper was out, it was more obvious how much wear the top bush had. Hope the banging noise goes away. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Shock bushes seem to be going at a far more rapid rate, I guess a sign of how bad the roads have got.

I’m thinking of fitting pin to pin rear, I have the parts, haven’t got around to fitting it all. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️
