It doesn’t help you, but I doubt engine would start, and run so well if incorrectly timed. I think your problem must be something else.
A new VCV would always be my starting point on these engines. |

Thanks for your reply !
Totally agree with you ! Best of my knowledge you Can’t check the timing now it’s all sealed and back together . The VCV was relatively new on old engine/pump . Never did a relearn because you can’t with nanocom ? But it was fine all the same . |

Surely if the timing was so far out that the pistons were hitting the valves there would be starting problems, smoke and diesel knock, fault codes ??
I want to be sure before I strip it down again to check timing ! |

It won’t bend a valve is mistimed just break a cam follower bolt or the ladder assembly. Would run like a bag of crap too

Yeh ! That’s what I thought .
If it was hitting the valves you would think you could hear It through the followers etc But you can’t ? |

Was the CKP holder already in place in the new engine? To my knowledge this setup is done before the cylinder head is installed. I may be wrong...
As well, make sure the injectors are original Denso and not counterfit. It can be very difficult to spot the difference. Puma 110" SW ............................................................. Earth first. Other planets later |

Hi
Yes the crank sensor holder was already on and bolted up. The engine came from a very reputable UK engine refurbisher who also supplied the Denso injecteurs |

My 2.4 had been making a ticking sound, that I couldn't find the source of.
I had the clutch replaced when I switched to the Ahscroft output shaft and it resolved the ticking. So could it be coming from the clutch? 2011 CSW XS 90 |
