I've seen pictures of severe damage to Porsches from headlight theft. I didn't know Defenders were also a target. I guess any car that has expensive lights with black market value will be at risk.

I have heard of LR Freelander2 rear lamps going missing in Russia (of all places). the 'shut line' gap between lamp cluster and tailgate can be stretched with a 'X head' screwdriver and the two fixing screws can be removed then the whole cluster is removed.
As for Leds being used to grow 'veggies', this has been common for over 10yrs now. |

Hardly any need to steal car headlights for "horticultural" use when you can buy super bright LED torches for next to nothing
But l suppose the criminals don't really have much idea about anything, such as the £10-15,000 repair bill that someone will have to pay. "Who cares? It's not affecting me" But it is, because we all have to pay for it in the long term. |

The case for owning a Classic Defender! Although it's more likely they'll steal the whole vehicle, strip it and dump the hulk in a field for someone to clear up. |

And hands up and guess the manufacturer that wont do a damn thing to prevent this........Should fill the insurance companies with continued confidence in the JLR brand.
At least those with face lifted Discovery 2's wont suffer sleepless nights unlike the days when those lights were introduced.... |

How exactly do you think a couple of brackets (held on with Torx head screws) will stop someone doing this to your vehicle?
If they want them, they'll get them. Image Source Click image to enlarge |
