It may or may not fail an emissions test, which for a diesel is just a smoke test, it all depends on how well the engine is running and tuned.
An MOT also encompasses a visual check to see if emissions components are present, I.e EGR and CAT. So if the EGR is present but mapped out, and a catalytic converter “Shell” has replaced a working CAT, there is a strong chance it won’t be identified as a fail for missing components The best way to check is to get the seller to take it for an MOT or have a garage with the correct equipment undertake an emissions test and provide a report. |
