Hi everyone,
I’ve got an ABS light that’s come up on the dash of my 2007 Defender Puma 2.4. Doing a quick scan reveals a ‘Shuttle Valve Fault’. Is the modulator in the Pumas the same as a Defender / Discovery TD5, and if so possible to replace the shuttle valve (part SWO500030G)? Part: https://www.paddockspares.com/swo500030g-repair-kit-wabco.html Really hoping that I don’t need to replace the entire modulator.. Many thanks! |

Here is your original topic on it Bluest https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic73307...ttle+valve
It looks like you used the same part , although it states it’s a disco 2 part and many other sites say it’s also for a disco 2 and not a defender. So if you can recall if it was that part you fitted the OP will owe you a pint |

Thanks for the reply guys!
I removed the shuttle valve and took it to my local parts supplier, and I can confirm that SWO500030G is a direct replacement for the ABS modulator in a Defender 2.4. The 2.2 Puma has a completely different kind of ABS Modulator, so the same part wouldn’t work for the 2.2. I’ve reinstalled everything and I’m no longer getting a ‘shuttle valve fault’ - win! However, the ABS light is still visible when the car starts / idles after start up. It turns off as the vehicle moves. I see that this is normal, as per the handbook, but I believe it’s meant to flash and not stay on as a static light? Does anyone know if it’s possible to turn this off entirely and only have the ABS light come on if there is a fault? Many thanks! Last edited by Freddie on 20th Feb 2024 6:43pm. Mine has always been static before going off at the designated speed. I've never seen any suggestion that this self-check illumination can be disabled. When I first had the car, I failed to RTFM and did wonder whether there was a fault. |

Although a TD5, I replaced the shuttle valve in situ last year using the part above. Sadly it didn’t resolve the issue (3amigos) and I had to replace the full ABS modulator ☹️
Fingers crossed it’s a quick, inexpensive fix for you 👍 |

Look for shuttle valve problems on Discovery 2 - much common, because all D2 have ABS. Mainly there is problem with internall electrical connector inside of the modulator body, and best solution is to make a cable bypass. All possible without remowing ABS modulator and needing to purge brakes. Just replacing the shuttle valve switches wth their holder is not enough, because the problem is on the opposite site of the the electrical connector. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo
