I had two blown bulbs in my instrument cluster so took the opportunity to swap them all out for LEDs. I ordered green thinking they'd give a nice glow but hadn't counted on them making everything green. I think I am going to drop some white in on the heater and fan controls. I'll see how I get used them. Has anyone else gone for coloured bulbs? I did consider red at one point.

@sicastle72 £7.40 for the pack. If you do a search for 'Defender' other variants are available. here's the TD5 link that I used.

I did something similar a few years ago, opting for blue LEDs, which I find gentler on my eyes at night than the green.
Like you found, I didn't like how everything went one colour so swapped them back to white. I'm currently contemplating an expensive order to https://speedhut.com/ for their 'dark green' set for everything except the speedo. I have seen in the past that someone managed to make the Td5 era speedometer have a green glow, but with a red needle. I would really like to do this myself as it looked great, but not sure how it was actually done (presumably soldering an LED onto the PCB?). 2005 Td5 90 XS 1989 V8 110 CSW |

@Hufflepuff - I could spend some money a Speed Hut. I've only had a quick glance but the LED dimmer might be something I am interested in.
I've got some motorbikes, a few are projects and the instrument panels on one are know to be weak with poor PCB tracks on a flexible plastic. Often owners have wires soldered all over the place to bridge the breaks. I've been thinking about an after market universal dash for that. Interesting stuff! https://www.instagram.com/roxi_defender90/ |
