Red Alarm Status Light - Solid
A new feature of my trunk is the alarm light being solid for as long as the engine is running. Doesn't seem to inhibit driving, just never used to do it.

The manual describes all the usual 'fob battery low', 'alarm is triggered', 'alarm is set' scenarios but none involves a completely solid un-flashing state...

Anyone else had this and know the cause?

Press lock or unlock multiple times rapidly whilst the doors are shut until it flashes very rapidly then settles.

Holy thread resurrection!

I have the same issue on my D90. The red light stay on all the time I am driving. The doors are shut fully, and if I turn the ignition on and off then it goes away.

It isn’t really a problem, other than I think the car is trying to tell me something and I want to understand it before I find out the hard way!

Has a reason emerged in the 7 years since this was originally posted?

My experience was resolved by changing the battery in the fob.

I was sceptical that such an “advanced feature” would be part of the MY14 defender alarm, but apparently it is!

Yep, it’s the fob battery, the solid red on the alarm indicator light when engine running denotes fob battery is low.

yep. Usually you also have to press the fob twice to unlock the doors and the indicators don't flash.
