Ooooo that sucks... Do you think it will pop out or is it creased?
Miffy still has a ding from a flying roof slate... Still stings a little when I clean her. |

Don't know if it will come out. That stuff does not pop like ordinary steel in cars. It could be pushed but it will never be perfect. I will have to live with it for the present 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Spud, sorry to see that happened.
Just a try. Take the headlining out, then the passenger seat base. Then use a sandbag next to the dent, a length of fence post on top of a bottle jack then see if you can gently tease in back into place. Best add a spreader plate for the jack so that you don’t push the lid down onto the battery terminals. I would hate for your wife to use the life insurance to buy a new kitchen…. |

It could have been a lot worse. I had to get help in to get Zikali out. Had to brace up the left side of the broken timber and raise up the right hand side so I could reverse the Defender out without doing more damage, besides I have lived with the wife's buckles and dents for so long...... 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

A bit of warmth from a hairdryer would help bring that out, no more heat than that though.
Sorry to hear that happened, a real pain. Some people have had cars hit by full blown trees as well, roof tiles and other things like that concern me more than trees in storms, usually you can keep parked away from the trees but buildings isn’t so easy. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

That looks a lovely (200 tdi?) 110 Station Wagon. Fortunately repair will not be difficult on the dented roof.
Remove the headliner and get a body shop to beat out the dent. As a last resort you could replace the front part of the roof. lt's not difficult and would be an opportunity to replace the header rail seal, which will almost certainly be leaking. Also it will be a nice time to clean the headliner while it's out. |

1992 200 tdi 110. Started life as a 110 pick up. I bought it in 1996 and had it converted to a 5 door , 9 seat station wagon. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

It should be possible for a competent body shop or coach builder with aluminium alloy experience to work that out, but I strongly recommend that you do not attempt it yourself (unless you have that experience) since you will make it worse. If the panel isn't creased and isn't stretched it should be quite easy, but if it has it will require more skill. The alloy work-hardens and may need annealing to be reduced, and whilst all this is not too difficult it is incredibly easy to do far more harm than good , and that would be a big and expensive panel to wreck.

Thanks for the advice. I would not contemplate tackling this myself. The Defender is due to go in for some work in a week or so. I will discuss this with the garage. If they exude knowledge and fill me with confidence ( you can guess it is not a LR maindealer ) I might get them to tackle it. Worse case scenario I will live with it. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Live with it - adds character - will become patina Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right.
