Hi all,
Am the very happy owner of a 1984 90 2.25 petrol. Previous owner was on here and it is absolutely lovely! Not very powerful but a breath of fresh air compared to the agricultural diesels. While I’ve got you… Anyone on here know the exact colour? It is definitely darker than the series 3 blue, but hard to tell if it’s the same as the later Defenders of the 1990s etc - I think my very first was Arles blue for example, is this likely to be the same? Sadly there is no paint code in the engine bay. Any wisdom welcomed! What a beauty.
I am restoring a 1988 90 (actual built in 1987) and is a Shire Blue, LRC392, looks very similar to yours although camera/lighting and monitors can display it differently. But AFAIK, the Shire blue was only available for a short period of time. You may look at my restoration thread for a comparison, https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72365-330.html , but as said, most of the time it gets a different shade depending on the lighting. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

I can't help with the colour, but you've got a nice 90! The 2.25 was a sweet little engine, I had one in a 110, it ran like a sewing machine.

Love this combo, something special about a soft Landy in the city

I would say that is a Shire blue as well, too light for the later Arles blue. Good comparison here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFtyz7lFQek |

Thanks all for the compliments and feedback!
Have ordered a couple of paint samples so will see which is closest (completely different to how it came out of the factory now anyway!) Can't wait for spring to roll around to drive around with the roof off! Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Landrover also used Stratos blue between ‘82 - ‘87
